Nazarbayev University is a higher education institution situated in Astana, the national capital, opened as a result of the personal initiative of the President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev.

About:

Nazarbayev University has an established partnership with University College London (UCL), University of Wisconsin-Madison, and iCarnegie. All students are required to pass a foundation year as a first year of study under the UCL UPC programme. Afterwards they are to choose in which department to study for a Bachelor's degree among Engineering, Science & Technology or the Social Sciences and Humanities departments. The Engineering department as a part of University College London offers three branches of engineering, which are Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Chemical Engineering. The Science & Technology department offers Applied Physics, Applied Mathematics, Biological Science & Technology, Pre-medicine, Robotics & Mechatronics, and Computational Science.[1] The Social Sciences and Humanities department under the University of Wisconsin-Madison offers International Relations, Economics, Political Science, Sociology, and Anthropology. The Master's degree will be available to study at in 2012.[2]
